True or False
by Claudia Sonea
Luo Chuan, the CEO of Myspace China, which is part of News Corp, declared that the company will move its servers to China as a strategy of attracting the Chinese users. He guarantees that by moving the server the site will be more appealing to local audience and China will stay connected to MySpaceâs database. If I were in his place, I wouldn't be so sure and not to mention all the financial effort that this project implies. Probably that is the reason they have not set yet a date and the challenge extends to technical issues too. However, the company might be inclined to do it because Chinese market is a profitable one and they had a really slow start there, so they have to improve that. Yahoo and eBay tried long time to win over Chinese users and they have not succeeded. MySpace China has to find something for the new market, to win over every obstacle and bring in front all they have to get Chinese attention. The company has to face the challenges posed by 51.com, Mop.com and Woku.com that already have ten millions users. The move would be a good move for the market and MySpace proved a great interest in China as a result the entire struggle to launch its Chinese-language site. We can just sit back and enjoy the latest news by clicking and clicking. Any day now, will find out what they will actually do and not what they intend to do.
